1st September 2024, I saw from Holwell Lane this ‘high seat’ for shooting deer (below) erected on the edge of the woodland at the nature reserve. I took a walk around the reserve and saw 3 other high seats in place around the new ‘Holwell Wood’.

31st October 2023, I emailed Sarah Bedford, a Senior Reserve Officer at the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, asking about a cull of Muntjac deer at Holwell Reserve; I had heard rumours of this cull from neighbours in the village.
